This custom walnut cabinet was designed to provide a little bit of everything—hidden storage below, open shelving for display, and a dedicated top shelf for artwork and collected pieces. Built entirely from walnut, the piece brings warmth and character to the room while remaining functional enough for everyday use.
We love projects like this because they blur the line between cabinetry and furniture. Rather than selecting something off the shelf, the client ended up with a piece built specifically for their space, their style, and the way they wanted to use it.
Materials
This piece was built entirely from walnut, including the cabinet interiors, creating a consistent look from the exterior through every visible storage space. Solid walnut hardwood was used for the four corner legs and structural framework that support the open shelving above, while walnut panels were used throughout the cabinet body and doors.
The designer selected and supplied the brass hardware, which adds a subtle contrast against the rich walnut grain. Soft-close hinges were used on all cabinet doors to provide smooth, quiet operation and a premium feel.
